Former Maccabi swingman signs for training camp with option to extend
Hapoel adds versatile wing Sandy Cohen on short-term deal

Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv continued its roster build-up ahead of the 2025-26 season by signing swingman Sandy Cohen to a short-term contract, the club announced on Sunday.
Cohen (1.98 meters, 29 years old) returns to the EuroLeague after appearing in 29 games over two seasons with Hapoel's archrival, Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv, between 2019 and 2021. He arrives from fellow Israeli side Hapoel Afula, where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in the Israeli League last season. In between, Cohen spent three seasons with Bnei Herzliya.
Cohen played college basketball at Marquette and Wisconsin-Green Bay before launching his professional career in Tel Aviv. He won a pair of Israeli championships and one State Cup with Maccabi. Cohen won a second State Cup with Herzliya in 2022.
Known for his athleticism, defensive instincts, and ability to create off the dribble, Cohen is expected to provide depth and energy to Hapoel’s perimeter rotation as the club prepares for its first season in the EuroLeague after winning the 2025 BKT EuroCup.
