Polonara diagnosed with myeloid leukemia 

Virtus Segafredo Bologna shared on Monday that power forward Achille Polonara is currently hospitalized at Sant’Orsola Malpighi in Bologna after being diagnosed with myeloid leukemia. Over the last few weeks, Polonara underwent specialized medical tests, which confirmed the diagnosis. 

This comes after an October 2023 bout with a testicular tumor. The tumor was surgically removed and his treatment also included a round of chemotherapy before Polonara was able to return to basketball courts in mid-December 2023.

Euroleague Basketball joins the entire Virtus Segafredo Bologna organization, the European basketball family and all those close to Achille and his loved ones to wish him a speedy recovery.
