AS Monaco announced that on Sunday that it has signed one of the premier defensive players on the continent, forward John Brown, to a two-year deal. Brown (2.03 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Germani Brescia, where he averaged 9.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals in seven Italian League games last season. He started the 2021-22 campaign with UNICS Kazan and set a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague record for most steals in a season with 69. He averaged 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 steals in 25 EuroLeague games. Brown played for UNICS for most of the last two seasons. In his first campaign with the club, Brown helped lead UNICS to the 2021 7DAYS EuroCup Finals where they lost to his new team, Monaco, in a best-of-three series.

Brown started his professional basketball career in Italy with Virtus Rome, Treviso and Brindisi before joining UNICS in 2020. He was named to the 2020-21 All-EuroCup Second Team. Brown helped Brindisi reach the Italian Cup finals in 2019 and 2020, but they lost to Vanoli Cremona and Umana Reyer Venice, respectively.
