AS Monaco has reached an agreement with Donatas Motiejunas to extend the center's contract for another season [CHECK THIS], the club declared on Monday. Motiejunas (2.13 meters, 31 years old) joined Monaco last summer and averaged 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in 38 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games in the 2021-22 season. He helped Monaco reach the EuroLeague playoffs and the French League Finals in his first season at the club.

Motiejunas is entering his fourth season in the EuroLeague, having made his debut in the competition with Zalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania in 2007-08, although he only appeared in three games off the bench. His other two seasons in the EuroLeague came with Asseco Prokom of Poland and Monaco in the 2011-12 and 2021-22 seasons, respectively. He has averaged 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds over the course of his EuroLeague career. Motiejunas also spent two seasons in the 7DAYS EuroCup with Benetton Treviso of Italy in 2009-10 and 2010-11, winning the EuroCup Rising Star award in 2011.
After taking his first steps in basketball at Zalgiris, Motiejunas went to play for another Lithuanian team in Aisciai Kaunas, where he stayed for one season. He signed for Benetton in 2009 and represented the club for two years, but ahead of the 2011-12 season he was loaned to Asseco Prokom of Poland, where he won the Polish League title. Motiejunas then went on to play for Houston, New Orleans and San Antonio in the NBA, as well as Shandong, Shanghai and Xinjiang in the CBA. He also played for Rio Grande in the G-League. Motiejunas is a member of the Lithuanian national team.
