Papas addition boosted collective-minded Reds

Olympiacos Piraeus cruised past LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on Wednesday night, 81-55, with the all-round collective nature of the performance underlined by the fact that no Reds players scored more than the 11 points recorded by Shaquielle McKissic and Thomas Walkup.
It perfectly summed up the Olympiacos team-first philosophy that all 11 players who took to the court – Moustapha Fall was the 12th man without receiving any playing time – scored at least 4 points and also contributed at least 1 rebound.
That included the man who received perhaps the biggest ovation from the fans inside the Peace and Friendship Stadium, George Papas. The 25-year-old, who is playing in his first EuroLeague season, had only made one appearance in the competition before Wednesday night, playing less than 3 minutes in the Round 13 meeting with Fenerbahce, but he was given a chance to gain more experience by appearing in the final stages on Wednesday.
Papas made the most of that opportunity by drawing a shooting foul and scoring a pair of free throws soon after entering the action, and then netting his first three-pointer in the competition to provoke one of the biggest cheers of the night. That saw Papas finish with a new personal high of 5 points in his young EuroLeague career and emphasized the fact that Olympiacos can go deep in its roster to find decisive performers.
