Turkish Airlines EuroLeague reigning champions Real Madrid rolled out the red carpet for its Media Day activities in the Spanish capital on Wednesday.
Theirs was a highlight on the media day tour that goes to each and every team in the competition in preparation for the new EuroLeague season that starts early next month. Real lifted the EuroLeague trophy for the 11th time last season and has the chance to win back-to-back continental crowns for the first time since 1968.
Media Day for the champs took place at Real Madrid City in Valdebebas, just outside of the Spanish capital, where the club’s football and basketball teams usually practice. As always, Real players engaged on photo shoots, interviews, social media activities and much more.
Real is back with almost all the same players who lifted the trophy last season. There is only one new player, and he already knows the club inside out: playmaker Facu Campazzo, who helped Los Blancos win their two previous EuroLeague titles, in 2015 and 2018.
Carlos Alocen, who has been injured for the best part of the last two seasons, was ready for Media Day action. One of the most requested players was 2023 Final Four MVP Walter Tavares, as well as team captain Sergio Llull, who is set to enter his 17th consecutive season with Los Blancos.
It was a busy morning, but Real players have all been through this before and made sure the work was done efficiently and on time. Next stop: try to successfully defend the EuroLeague crown!
