Virtus Segafredo Bologna strengthened its frontcourt by signing center Jordan Mickey, the club announced Wednesday. Mickey (2.03 meters, 27 years old) arrives from Zenit St Petersburg, where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in 22 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. He helped Zenit win its first-ever VTB United League title, too. Mickey joined Zenit from another Russian team, Khimki Moscow Region, where he had a huge 2020-21 season, ranking seventh in the EuroLeague in scoring with 15.6 points per game, sixth in rebounds with 5.8 and third in blocks at 1.5 per night.

That was Mickey's second stint with Khimki, with which he made his EuroLeague debut in the 2018-19 campaign. He spent the 2019-20 season with Real Madrid. In four seasons in the competition, Mickey has averaged 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 104 games. Mickey began his professional basketball career in the NBA, where he spent three seasons with Boston and Miami. Mickey also spent parts of two seasons on loan from Boston to Maine in the G-League.
