As announced by the club on Saturday early afternoon, Zalgiris Kaunas made official the addition of big man Achille Polonara until the end of the season. Polonara (2.02 meters, 31 years old) arrives from the defending champs Anadolu Efes Istanbul, where he arrived last summer. This season, Polonara averages 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances, eight of them as a starter.

Polonara has not managed to score in double digits in any of his appearances this season with Efes. This is his fourth EuroLeague season. Polonara made his debut with Baskonia from 2019 to 2021, as his second season there was his best yet in the competition. In the summer of 2021 he joined Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, where he played for one season. Polonara has played a total 105 games in the EuroLeague for 748 points and 454 rebounds. He will now land in Kaunas to strengthen Zalgiris in the team's run to the playoff spots.
