After finishing one spot out of the playoff picture in last season's Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz is back with a vengeance and a few new faces, hoping to improve at least one rung in the final regular season standings from the previous campaign. Head coach Joan Penarroya has arrived to lead a new project that will look to put the Baskonia Character back at the top.
BACKCOURT
Baskonia's trio of guards will start with a newcomer, Darius Thompson, who enjoyed a stellar 7DAYS EuroCup season with Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar last season. Now he will make his EuroLeague debut, just like Markus Howard, another newcomer directly from the NBA, where he played a secondary role. Arturs Kurucs will be playing his third season with Baskonia and his role is likely to grow. Rokas Giedraitis will continue to be one of the main offensive options for the team at small forward, and he will be connecting with names that he knows well in Tadas Sedekerskis and Vanja Marinkovic. Another new face at forward will be Dani Diez, a player who boasts years of experience both in the EuroLeague and EuroCup.
