Virtus renews with guard Matt Morgan

Virtus Bologna has announced that guard Matt Morgan will be staying with the team for another season.
Morgan (1.88 meters, 27 years old) landed in Bologna last summer and averaged 7.8 points, 2.6 assists and 1.7 rebounds during the 2024-25 season, his first in the EuroLeague.
However, Morgan’s contributions improved with the appointment of coach Dusko Ivanovic. From Round 16 until the end of the regular season, Morgan posted 9.1 points. He also finished the Italian League campaign with 10.1 points on 40.6% three-point shooting, helping Virtus win the championship.
Morgan came to Virtus last summer as an All-EuroCup First Team selection with the London Lions. He led the team and was fifth in the BKT EuroCup in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He added 3.9 assists for a PIR of 18.0 in 22 games for London, which reached the EuroCup Semifinals that 2023-24 season.
After spending four years at Cornell University between 2015 and 2019, Morgan spent the first two years of his professional career with the Toronto Raptors' G League team, the Raptors 905. In the summer of 2021, he tasted European basketball for the first time by joining Turkish side Konyaspor, where he averaged 21.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.4 steals in 40 appearances in the Turkish Second Division.
Then he made the move to France to join Le Mans and ended up having a season to remember in the French top flight, as he was named to the 2022-23 All-French League Team after a standout season with Le Mans, in which he averaged 20.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
