Whenever 'El Clasico' between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona takes place, particularly in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the eyes of the world tune in. When Los Blancos hosted the Blaugrana at WiZink Center in Round 21 on January 26, 2023, former basketball player Anthony Goods was given exclusive access to shine a light on what makes this rivalry so great.
Follow Goods as he speaks with players on both sides of the Real and Barca divide, as well as both teams' head coaches, DAZN analyst Piti Hurtado and a legendary player for Los Blancos, Joe Arlauckas. During a sit-down conversation outside WiZink Center, Arlauckas gives an ex-player's insight into what it was like to play in El Clasico.
"It could be the best day of your life or it could be the worst day of your life," recalled Arlauckas. "I remember being in the EuroLeague Final Four in Paris and being up 17 early in the second quarter and losing to them. I just remember the depression; I remember the fact that you don't want to leave your house, you don't want to see anybody outside on the street. The memories that I have are the bad ones, unfortunately. I have the good ones, but the ones that you really, really remember… and I think that's been my whole life, I tend to remember the negative parts more than I do the positive parts, which I think made me a better player over time."
After learning all about what makes El Clasico one of the biggest fixtures in European basketball, Goods catches up with sneaker influencer Reda Ouahbi (@rookicks_) to exchange predictions ahead of the game. Then, you join Goods courtside to see how the action unfolds, before he heads to the winning team's locker room to get some post-game thoughts from a star player.
