Euroleague Basketball celebrated a trio of prizes at the Sports Business Awards 2023, which were announced on Friday in London. Euroleague Basketball and its partners were nominated in seven different categories and ultimately chosen among the best in three of them.
The Silver Award for the Most Successful Sports Event Broadcast went to Euroleague Basketball and IMG Productions for the 2023 EuroLeague Final Four. It was one of five finalists in that category, which was won by beIN MEDIA GROUP for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The EuroLeague Maze, produced by Euroleague Basketball, won the Silver Award for the Best Sports Related Commercial or Promotional Video. There were 10 finalists in this category and The EuroLeague Maze was the runner-up to the video made by the Sport and Recreation Alliance for its bid for the United Kingdom to host the International Working Group on Women and Sport.
In the category of Sports Innovation Award, the 2023 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four Referees Bodycam received the Bronze Award. The Euroleague Basketball and MindFly initiative was one of seven finalists in the category, which was won by the Fulham Reach Boat Club for its Boats Not Bars program.
The other categories for which Euroleague Basketball and its partners were nominated but did not finish on the podium were: Best Sports Marketing Initiative (Taking Basketball to a Global Fanbase – Euroleague Basketball and UNRVLD); Best Sports Community or CSR Scheme – non-football (One Team – Euroleague Basketball); Sports Technology of the Year (EuroLeague TV VR – Yerba Buena VR); and Sponsorship/Partnership of the Year (Taking Basketball to a Global Fanbase – Euroleague Basketball and UNRVLD).
The Sports Business Awards, launched in 2017, highlight and reward achievement by those behind the scenes in the sporting industry and celebrate the vital influence of business within sport by recognizing the organizations, teams and individuals who excel in their roles.
