Teams in the BKT EuroCup were busy over the last week sculpting their teams ahead of the 2023-24 season. A dozen teams logged transactions between July 25 and 31 and half of them signed multiple players. Here's a rundown of what took place.
Cluj brings in experienced foursome
U-BT Cluj-Napoca retooled its lineup with four new players, including two EuroLeague veterans. D.J. Seeley comes from FC Bayern Munich and has played three seasons in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and six in the EuroCup. The combo guard is on pace to reach 1,000 career points in the EuroCup this season. Sharpshooter Jarell Eddie will open things up for all of his teammates thanks to his outside shooting. He 44.9% of his three-pointers for Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in his lone EuroLeague campaign in 2020-21. Big man Mareks Mejeris will strengthen the Cluj frontline through his relentless defense and rebounding, though his ability to score in the paint should not be overlooked. Running the show will be point guard Bryce Jones, who will debut in the EuroCup. In the span of one week, these players have given Cluj a new look and confidence it can make some noise in the EuroCup.
