FC Bayern Munich, which has made it to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs in each of the last two seasons, enters this season led by the same head coach, Andrea Trinchieri, and a core of players that have been together for several years. Bayern made sure that Coach Trinchieri has a deep, versatile roster at his disposal. Effort and high intensity are not negotiable for him, so expect Bayern to be very competitive.
BACKCOURT
Bayern arguably has more options at point guard than any other team in the competition, which is a great sign. Corey Walden is back to offer deep shooting range and court sense. He couldn't help the team in the playoffs due to an injury, so Walden should be motivated to get to that point again. Ognjen Jaramaz took a step forwards late last season and is now a more mature player, ready to make the most out of his one-on-one skills. Nick Weiler-Babb is a versatile guard who does a little bit of everything. He can rebound well at both ends, read the passing lanes to collect steals, guard the opponents' star guard and provide the intangibles – energy, competitiveness, attitude – that every team needs to be successful. Zan Sisko is a pass-first playmaker who can also score in many ways and seems to improve every season. Andreas Obst can change any game with his shots from beyond the arc. Cassius Winston is an intriguing addition, a playmaker in his first EuroLeague season who can score in many ways, but also find the open teammate if double-teamed. Isaac Bonga is a physical player, able to guard any perimeter player and help Bayern with his high intensity at both ends. Jason George brings a supply of outside shots and energy off the bench.
